remembering the past, creating a future

Windseer Castle was procured and purchased by two individuals who'd come to Rhy'din in order to find their true calling, founding Advocate Keld Draeger and founding Speaker Zoe Viddy Bourciquot. For Keld, The Alliance of the Twelve Moons would serve as an escape from his past life growing up in a lavish family and corporate environment, a life which had suffered the hard loss of his wife shortly before. For Zoe, Rhy'din and the Alliance were the doors that would open up her true vocation as a Seer, allowing her the chance to run from a New Jersey bred fate that was only going to lead to college and a lifetime as a research librarian. When these two souls ran into each other one day - and literally, Zoe plowed right into Keld as he was coming out of one of the local taverns just as she was trying to go inside! - after they picked themselves back onto their feet and dusted themselves off they knew that what they'd run into was more than a just person. It was their fate.

After Keld purchased the deeds to Windseer Castle, he and Zoe moved in together and the period of building, document drafting, and staff hiring would commence; both wished to make sure that when the Alliance opened its doors for membership, almost every single facility and policy had reached completion, so the guild would have as few rough edges as possible. It took a year to complete this process, and when that year was drawing to a close Zoe would consult her tea leaves, her runes, her scrying bowl, and her crystals to find out whom the Powers That Be would choose to be the first staff members of the Alliance. One by one, the letters went out as her Seer's tools supplied her not only with names but addresses, and soon the Alliance had a strong, full staff of members from varying creeds and areas of expertise, and the halls began to fill at the beginning of April 2003.

When the Alliance opened on April 17th, 2003 it had four Shires: The Shire of the Healers' Touch lead by Magistrate Sevyll Fatalis, The Shire of the Clerics' Word lead by Magistrate Relina Skysong, The Shire of the Knights' Oath lead by Airtia Shadoan, and finally The Shire of Combat and Arms lead by Fallon Zane. In the first month of the Alliance only two of the possible six Sects that the guild could support were open, the Harvest Moon and the Blood Moon. The original woman selected to head the Harvest Moon would feel the twist of fate keep her from Windseer at the last moment, and the crystals would instead bring Azlin Zoi to be the founding Ansur of the Sect; under the leadership of Azlin the first Ken of the Harvest Moon was Miriam Crishnan, and its first Geofu was Kearia Andreas. The second Sect running when the Alliance first opened its doors was the Blood Moon, under the leadership of founding Ansur Angel Rayne and her staff of Ken Sylvia Tamora and Geofu Desdemona Blackstaff.

Thanks to the rigorous recruiting efforts of the founding staff and the first members of the Alliance, the guild experienced growth that was prosperous enough to open a third Sect after a month's time. When that time came, Ken Sylvia Tamora would leave her post at the Blood Moon to become the founding Ansur of the Hunter's Moon, and following her would be Ken Kearia Andreas and Geofu Rhapsody. By the end of another month the growth allowed for the fourth Sect to be opened, and the current Ken of the Blood Moon, Princess Julliet Bianca Emuli, would move to the Thunder Moon to be its Founding Ansur, and with her she had Ken Kearia Andreas and Geofu Minerva Aloradannon Tru.

For months, the numbers of the Alliance would remain steady, for even while many of the old faces took their leave new and fresh faces would always replace them and do their part to make the Alliance of the Twelve Moons a truly singular, ever-changing place to be. Founding Speaker Zoe Bourciquot would be called away from the guild by the tea leaves to open her own Seer's tent in the city of Rhy'din, and Founding Harvest Moon Ansur Azlin Zoi would rise to take her place as the next Speaker of the Alliance. When the Founding Advocate Keld Draeger would also be called away, the Alliance hit its first period of uncertainty and hardship, and there was a wonder if the guild was going to close its doors. The spirit of the Alliance prevailed, however, and Speaker Azlin Zoi would take the place that Advocate Draeger vacated, and a new era of the Alliance began in mid-autumn 2003.

Since Azlin Zoi's move from Speaker to Advocate left that position vacant once more, a replacement had to be found. The first replacement was found in Saria Pierce, a close friend to Azlin. The months following Saria's appointment were for the most part peaceful and passed without incident, until depression and loneliness got the best of the Speaker, who was found hanging in the Speaker's quarters one cold day of winter. A shortage of staff prevented another from being promoted until some time later, when Rowena Devlin was promoted to be the next Speaker of the Alliance.

During this short period of time a gamble was made based on the steady numbers of the Alliance, and the fifth Sect - the Barley Moon - was opened for membership and Malice Sinclair Kincaid was promoted to be its founding Ansur; working with Malice was Ken Tarinillis Silverband and Geofu _____. Unfortunately, staff shortages and turnover plagued the Alliance at this time; not only did the Barley Moon have no choice but to face early retirement so soon after it was opened, but the Thunder Moon was in danger of closing if someone didn't come forward with the experience to lead the Sect. Formally of the Thunder Moon, Rowena would leave her position as Speaker to serve as Ansur to the Sect that she felt loyalty and love for, and the post of Speaker was vacant one again.

Advocate Azlin Zoi would run the Alliance without a Speaker for a short time until she was confident in one who could take on the various duties and responsibilities of that role. Finally in mid-February of 2004 she chose her right-hand woman, Former Ansur of the Barely Moon Malice Sinclair Kincaid. Azlin and Malice worked together on the Alliance for quite some time, not only striving to keep the guild a smoothly running place, but they also began to look over the structure of the Alliance in a time of self-reflection, to see if the current policies, organizations and structure needed expansion or change. During this time, however, Malice felt the winds of change calling and moved on to other things that called to her attention near the end of June.

The time that Malice departed was also a time of great change for the Alliance in many other ways. The guild had just completed the foundational work needed to open its fifth Shire, The Shire of Magical Studies. Its founding Magistrate was slated to be Fallon Zane, former Magistrate of the Shire of Combat and Arms, but right when the new Shire was about to open Fallon felt that the Alliance was no longer the place he remembered, and so fifth Shire was put on hold until a time came when another could be selected who was qualified to staff such a brave endeavor. Recently another was selected for this position, Former and Founding Blood Moon Ansur Angel Rayne. She worked on this trying hard to make it work, but when it became necessary for an Ansur position to be filled, Angel stepped down and Arcadia came forward to lead the society.

But, as it is with all things, time marches on and people come and go. Since then, Epiphany has taken the Alliance under her care as Advocate and, along with Angel - who is now Speaker, and Cyrus Silverling, the Chancellor of the Alliance, the guild continues. Fresh ideas come forth everyday and members, both old and new, continue to fill the grounds of Windseer.
