Sport and Recreation

“Play is the only way the highest intelligence of humankind can unfold.”

For those who like to spar, the Alliance has a fully equiped arena, stocked with various weapons - real and training - for all your needs. But, if fighting isn't your thing, the Alliance is proud to offer an alternative. Through the creative minds of our members we have sport and recreational games. The High Command encourages the members to send in fun games and activities for the members to participate. Below you will find a sampling of the recreational activites the Alliance has to offer.

The Games......

*The Hunters and the Hunted!* [ aka HnH ]

Looking for a little friendly, physical competition, but don't feel like needing a trip to the healers afterwards? Then, maybe a game of The Hunters and the Hunted is for you! A perfect game for those who love Mass Spars, this game can be played either one of two ways: Teams, or Free For All. For either variation, the rules of the game is the same. Using a red rubber ball (thanks to Epiphany, for her thoughtful donation!), the goal is to hit your opponent on any part of their body. If you hit your opponent, they are eliminated! But, if your opponent catches the ball, you are eliminated!

*Tug of War*

Think you have the strength, technique and skill to tug some of your fellow members over the line in the sand? That is exactly what the Tug of War game is all about! Pull on either side of the rope stolen from Advocate Epiphany's workshop until you drag your opponents over the center line. This obviously works best with more than two people, so this is another great way to get multiple people involved in an activity without maiming anyone!

*Speed Sledding*

There is a lot of beautiful land around the castle. Forests, rivers,, hills... and when the snow finally starts to fall, the beauty is captured on every inch of the land. Especially the hills ... which become perfect for some sledding. And what better way to sled, than to race against a partner! Barrel down the hill on your sled, toboggan, trash can lid ... whatever you want to use, and try to beat your opponent to the bottom!

*Soaking in the Reigns*

Giddy-up and prepare to ride, this isn't your average horse race. Located North West from Windseer Castle lie the Oak Moon Stables, equipped with well trained horses and temple stable hands to care for the horses. This is where the race will begin. During the race you will navigate your horse through a tangle of trees, jump over a river, duck through the hidden cave behind the Tri-Ping falls and race to the finish line. It's a wild race along the grounds, are you up to the challenge? Because the race involves turns and jumps, it's recommend that children not participate.

*The Aqua Stroke*

The Butterfly, Breast Stroke,  Sidestroke, Doggy Paddle, whatever your style, prepare yourself - it's time to race. This activity is not recommend for the faint of heart and those who are easily short on breath - nor is it really recommended for people who can't swim, since it is a swimming race.

*Kingyo Catch*

This game originated from the Cherry Blossom, Lantern and Kimono Festivals of Japan. The idea is to see how many goldfish a person can scoop up using a small paper paddle called a Poi.  When the paper breaks on the paddle, the contestant must get another Poi-paddle.
