Rules and Regulations
“Our principles are founded on the immovable basis of equal rights and reason.”
I. Guild Ranks and Responsibilities
The Alliance rank structure is set up pretty much like the original Association of Rhydin Guilds command structure. Twelve ranks, broken into High Command, Magistrates, Sect Command, Sect Membership, and Raidos (Citizens). The names of the ranks have been changed around so things aren't so typical and boring... and it's neater, anyway. Sect ranks are all named after specific runes. To compare ranks and the ascension of power, below is a comparison of Alliance ranks to two other guilds, the Republic of the Last Twilight, and the Society of the Blood Rose.
Alliance Rank RLT Rank SBR Rank

• Speaker Second in Command N/A
• Chancellor Third in Command Lady Sentinel
• Magistrate Knight Commander Magistrate

* It should be noted that any attempt on another characters life, without their consent, whether
done by your character or contracted out to another character will result in guild expulsion for
all parties involved.

counsel to consult with, comprised of the the Advocate, the Speaker , and Magistrates and
the member's Ansur if applicable. However, the final decision rests with the Advocate.
2. If the crime is severe, the accused member may be brought in for a personal interview with
the Advocate and / or Chancellor before assessing disciplinary action.

may be assigned if the situation is warranted.

B. Destruction of Guild Mail
1. A warning is given for first and second infractions; a third offense results in expulsion.
2. Each piece of mail destroyed is counted as a separate offense. So, if a member
destroys a Guild Welcome Letter, the Rules and Regulations, and a Sect Welcome
Letter all in the same day, that is still grounds for expulsion if the process below is
not completed in 48 hours.
3. Accidental Destruction of Mail is not a crime. However, it is your duty to notify
the Speaker, Advocate, and Ansur within 48 hours of the incident with an explan-
ation so it can be noted, and the document be resent.
C: Mass Mailing (( Bear in mind mass mailing is a TOSable offense. ))
1. A warning is given for a first offense.
2. Probation may be considered for a second offense.
3. Expulsion is immediate for a third offense.
Note: Remember that this does include such documents as Wedding Invitations,
Birth Announcements and the like. If a member wishes to notify the entire guild re-
garding a matter they should utilize the Message Center, or ask the Speaker
to put an announcement in the Guild Letter for them. Or, if such a mass mailing is
thought to be necessary, they should BCC the mail to the general membership.
However, even this process isn't encouraged except for official guild matters.
----------------------------------------------------------[•]------------------------------------------------------------
V. Posting
A. Each member is encouraged to make an introductory post within two weeks of their acceptance
, i.e., by their first report. Also, if a member is transferred to another Sect, a post noting their
move is also encouraged. An intro post made in the first report period will receive a 10 GDP
bonus. A transfer post receives a 5 GDP bonus.
B. (( OOC on the boards is banned except for in the proper section! Any questions should be sent
via e-mail to the High Command. ))
C. (( TOS is in effect at all times. Play nice, be nice, have fun! ))
D. (( Any members spoken to via SLs on the boards do not count towards the conversations
section in reports! ))
E. (( Do not just randomly post in the middle of someone's SL unless you can bring something
to the SL. People work hard on their SL's, and it's not fair of you to ruin it. ))
----------------------------------------------------------[•]------------------------------------------------------------
VI. Recruiting

AFK or BRB. If you know you're not going to be able to play right away, do not enter
until time permits.
C. Group Applications will be allowed with no more than five members. All must be active to
be included on the application.
D. Only ten (10) members are allowed in a Recruiting Establishment at one time whether
recruiting or not. If more members enter, and seem to be intent on lounging while others
recruit, the person in charge of the application should inform them the application is full.
Should they not leave, send the High Command a record of the incident ((with a log
preferably)) so it can be dealt with.
E. Awards (( and GDPs )) will be given out for recruiting. Only accepted applicants will count
towards award tallies (( and GDP awards. These applicants must stay in the guild for at
least one reporting period for the credit to count.)) See chart below for listings:

It is the duty of the Knights to make sure these policies are upheld. If no Knights are present,
that duty falls to the highest ranking member present. If there is an incident, the High Council
should be given a record ((with a log, preferably.))
C. (( Members can use guild rooms to play out a conflict, but remember that what is
done IC will be dealt with IC. So, if their actions violate guild laws, know full well that
they will have to accept the consequences, even if this is a planned SL. ))
VIII. Meetings
A. Meeting Schedule
1. Bimonthly Sect Meetings
Occasionally a meeting will be called to discuss pending policies, or a situation
that needs to be brought your attention. Attendance is mandatory. Meetings will
always be held in the Sect's Common Room. (( 20 GDPs are awarded for attending
a meeting, but remember you must be IC in the chat! ))
2. Social Events
Dances, Balls, Parties, Tournaments. These all fall under Social Events. They can
be spur of the moment, or planned months ahead. There will always have some
sort of monthly social event to encourage members to meet. Showing up isn't
required but it does look good on a member's report! If you have an idea for one
of these, run to the Alliance's High Command and they will help you see the fruits
of your labor!
B. Meeting Etiquette
1. Words, as well as fists, can hurt. Using such things in a guild sanctioned event
will be met with probation, effective as soon as the infraction is reported.
2. All members will act in an honorable way during meetings, no matter the
provocation.
3. (( If two characters who are in a heated SL together are present, you don't have
to put this aside for the sake of the meeting. However, do not abuse this privilege!
The point of meetings is to get information across, or to have fun. Characters can
use guild rooms to play out a conflict, but remember that what is done IC will be
dealt with IC. So if their actions violate guild laws, know full well that they will
have to accept the consequences, even if this is a planned SL.))
.
I. Guild Development Points - GDPs.
A large part of the Alliance is Guild Development Points, also known as GDPs. To keep this system semi-realistic every action is worth something. You gain experience in life through what you have done, whom you have talked to, and how you carry yourself. Why should this be any different IC?
GDPs only effect a character's quantity of dice and number of sides, and can also be used to purchase weapons through the Forge. As such, dice are not tied directly to rank. A member who spars regularly and is active may very well see a faster increase in dice than they do in rank, especially if they are a higher-ranking member, or if their reports are not very strong in other activity.
A character who chooses not to spar or purchase weapons, the GDP system is of little consequence; however, their dice will still be raised at the proper increments in case the day comes where the character does decide to pick up arms. Now, for members who do like to spar, pay close attention to the point system. The better your activity is all around, the more GDP's you will have, and the higher your character's dice will be!
Below is a chart outlining GDP equivalents for dice. Following that list of all possible ways to earn GDPs, except those awarded by Shires. If a member has a question about their GDP total they should approach the Advocate only, for he / she is the only person with the complete records.
A. GDP Dice Equivalents
0 - 350 - 2d22
351- 700 - 2d24
701 - 1100 - 2d26
1101 - 1500 - 2d28

4501 - 6500 - 2d36
6501 - 8500 - 2d38
8500 - 10000 - 2d40
After 10000 GDPs is reached, there are no further raises in dice sides. Instead, to still reward those super guild members who wish to go further, we have implemented a system which allows your dice number to go up.
25000 - 3d
50000 - 4d

II. Reports
A. General members are expected to report once every two weeks. Raido's report once a month,
either the first or last reporting period of said month. These reports are required, and if a member
fails to report the following chain of action wil occur:
1. First failure to report will result in a warning. The member's next report is then due the
following week, not in two weeks as if they had reported. Or next month if a Raido.
2. Second failure to report will result in a second warning, and a demotion to Feoh.
3. Third failure to report will result in immediate expulsion from the guild.
B. If you cannot report for whatever reason please send a letter to your Ansur at
least 24 hours in advance so they can excuse you for this report week. ((The above
letter must be both IC and OOC)). A member may not petition to be excused two
report periods in a row.
C. ((We do understand that sometimes life happens unexpectedly which prevents re-
porting on time. When such difficulties arise, know that you can send in your
character's report up until Saturday at 12 noon EST. You cannot do this two report
periods in a row without penalty. If it looks like this privilege is being abused then
someone in the Guild Command will contact you.))
D. Policy regarding a member who is extremely tardy turning in a report - 12 hours late
or more - is up to each Ansur's discretion, and as such the Ansur needs to do the
following things in this order:
1. Clear proposed penalty with High Command before implementing it.
2. Make the penalty clear to their membership, via Report Reminders, etc.
3. Know that the penalty will remain standard for every member regardless of rank
or number of previous infractions. Such penalties may include denying possible
promotion, ineligibility for Sect Awards, or even not accepting the report ((GDP
deductions will not be given)).
E. Promotions are based on Reports only (( GDP totals have no effect on rank )).
F. All above policies also apply to the Shires. Magistrates, like Ansurs, will need
--------to develop a policy to deal with notably tardy reports.
G. Any member who receives the feedback can ignor the suggestions made (though if you
--------are going to ignore it then you shouldn't ask for it), except in the case that the
--------feedback was issued by the High Council. In such cases there has been a major
--------problem with the report such as in accounting (number of conversations) or
--------something that couldotherwise effect the Sect report, or roster notation.
H. Ghost reports are not permitted. These are reports that simply state the members
name, rank, sect and date with zeroes for each section. This will result in the same as
a non reporter and a warning will be given.
III. Leave of Absence
A. If proper procedure is followed, a member may take a Leave of Absence from the
guild. This leave may last for a week up to a full month.
B. If proper procedure is followed, the member is exempt from all duties during their
leave and will not receive any penalties or lose rank during that time.
C. If a character needs a Leave of Absence that will last longer than one month, it is
advised that they should resign from the guild until they return. Upon return they
will not have to fill out a full application to rejoin - they should simply send a letter
of notification to the Advocate and Speaker stating their desire to rejoin the fold. If
they had a rank of Jara or lower, they will be restored to that rank ((and their GDP
totals and dice will be restored as well)). If they were a member of the Guild
Command, then they will be restored to the rank of Jara ((and their GDP totals and
dice will be restored as well)).
D. To request a Leave of Absence a member must send a mail with the following
information to the Advocate, Speaker and their Ansur, if applicable.
1. Member name, rank, Sect (( and SN in lowercase )).
2. Date of departure and date of return.
3. Reason for leave.
E. A member who is granted leave is not allowed to participate in any regular guild activities.
This includes everything from reporting, (posting), and entering public guild locations. Violating
these terms may result in probation, so it is imperative that a member notify the Advocate and
Chancellor that they have returned from leave, especially if they have returned earlier than expected.
F. (You do not have to provide an OOC explanation for your character's desire to take leave.
--------This is for two reasons. One, there may be no real life reason for your character's trip beyond
the fact that you want to take a break from playing them - which is a-valid reason. Two, this
is just a game. As such, you don't have to defend yourself if you want a time out, especially
if you have a personal reason. We trust you. )
(OOC) ADDENDUM-Resignation Protocol
If, at some point, you feel you are no longer able or willing to participate in the Alliance, proper procedure should be taken to resign. You should send a letter to the High Command, as well as your current Ansur, letting us know that you wish to be removed from the Alliance. This will serve to help us keep our roster accurate, and will assure that you do not receive any more mailings from the Alliance. It will also serve to maintain friendly terms with the staff of the Alliance should you decide to return at some point in the future
